Yes, "Who Mourns for Adonis?" is really a great example of the Ancient Astronaut Theory in science fiction on television from before the popular books popularized the basic unpopular idea. Certainly, the episode was not influenced by the Round Table Foundation because it was made before Gene Roddenberry met the group, unless the Council of Nine transcended sequential time like the Prophets in the wormhole on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

But it does have to make you wonder -- if Roddenberry's brain was running on that track for a long time beforehand....after all, what drew him to the research/seances/channeling of that Round Table/Lab Nine group in the first place??
GRod was well interfaced in the deeply occultic fringe esoteric parapsychological Cali milieu at the time of Star Trek continuing thru 74/75 and likely beyond;
That Cali community included names like Forrest J Ackerman and Ray Bradbury -- and just look at the names of the writers of ST that first run: Harlan Ellison, Norman Spinrad, Theodore Sturgeon, Robert Bloch, Richard Matheson, Jerome Bixby, George Clayton Johnson -- all pioneers of hugely occultic principles and narratives expressed in the exquisite prose of the day...

I was one of those as a child caught up in the wonder and spectacle of all that imagination at the time -- the boundary-free possibilities of what such a gleaming future might hold.

[Disney-owned] ABC went as far as to create a good deal of publicity for the 'real' Goldberg family. Oh, and almost every episode in the sitcom ends with some actual, creepy '80s footage of that bunch.
To piece together what we know of the non-fiction story (and can partly yet directly infer from the TV series): Here's an upper-class Philadelphia clan living in a wood-paneled, crystal-chandeliered sprawl of a Tudor mansion. The Dad is a therapist who loves to run around the house in his tighty whities. He and the loudmouth stay-at-home Mom (no boundaries of any kind) keep yelling F words and punching each other in the face. The Dad, on actual camera, addresses their three sons as "you little bastards" and constantly complains that they're "aggravating" him. The kids have clearly been through some intense Disney-style mental programming. One of the boys keeps videotaping everything - which, combined with his family background, is how all doors in Hollywood have been magically flinging open for him ever since he turned 14. Looming in the background is the octogenerian Grandpa, a Hugh Hefner-type character complete with white suits, gold bracelets, a pipe, etc., usually planning his next sexcapade.
SOME material! Kudos to whoever managed to massage this into an awwww, big-group-hug, all-American family comedy.

Wanted to add a thought about how vunerable we are now, to wit, the self driving electric car, program few ten thousand or so and ram them into every infrastructure sevices, water, electric @ etc nodes the same day, including emergency services and soft targets. Blow us back to the 1800s
